Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt
The Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt was the last royal dynasty of the New Kingdom, ruling in the twelfth and eleventh centuries BCE. Its early king Ramesses III repelled the Sea Peoples, but later reigns saw economic difficulties, tomb robberies and the growing power of the High Priests of Amun. Accounts of the Egyptian Empire New Kingdom treat the dynasty's end with Ramesses XI as the close of the New Kingdom.
