Upstalsboom

The Upstalsboom is a burial mound near Aurich in East Frisia, Germany, which served in the Middle Ages as the meeting place of delegates of the Frisian Seven Sealands. Representatives of the free Frisian lands gathered there to settle disputes and agree common laws, and a league renewed in 1323 adopted the Upstalsboom statutes. A stone pyramid erected in 1833 marks the site.
