Vincent of Saragossa

d. c. 304 · 3rd century · Also known as Saint Vincent the Deacon

Vincent of Saragossa was a deacon of Zaragoza who was martyred at Valencia in the persecution of Diocletian, around 304. He became one of the most widely venerated saints of Spain. The Frankish king Childebert I brought back relics of him from Spain and founded an abbey in Paris to house them, later called Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
