Charibert I

c. 517–567 · 6th century

Charibert I was a Merovingian king of the Franks who ruled the kingdom of Paris from 561 to 567. The eldest surviving son of Chlothar I, he received the old kingdom of Childebert I with Paris as his capital when his father's lands were divided. He was excommunicated for his marriages, and his daughter Bertha married King Æthelberht of Kent. After his death his kingdom was divided among his brothers.
