Vishnugupta

c. 540–550 CE · 6th century

Vishnugupta was the last recognised emperor of the Gupta dynasty, ruling around 540–550 CE. By his time the empire had been reduced to a remnant kingdom by Huna invasions, succession disputes and the rise of regional powers. After his reign the dynasty dissolved into regional successor states.
