Vyatichians
The Vyatichians were an East Slavic tribe of the early Middle Ages, living along the upper and middle Oka river, in the area of modern Moscow, Kaluga and Oryol. They paid tribute to the Khazars until Sviatoslav I of Kiev subdued them in the 960s, and Vladimir the Great had to defeat them again. They were among the last East Slavs to accept Christianity, and their lands later became part of the principalities of Chernigov and Vladimir-Suzdal.
