Wagri

Also known as Wagrians

The Wagri, or Wagrians, were a West Slavic tribe who lived in eastern Holstein, a region still called Wagria, from about the 8th to the 12th century. Part of the Obotrite confederation, they had their chief stronghold at Starigard (Oldenburg in Holstein). After conquest by the counts of Holstein in the 1130s and 1140s their lands were settled by Germans and they were gradually assimilated.
