Reric

Reric was an early medieval trading port of the Obotrites on the Baltic coast, usually identified with the excavated site at Groß Strömkendorf on Wismar Bay in Mecklenburg. Frankish annals record that the Danish king Gudfred destroyed it in 808 and moved its merchants to Hedeby. Excavations have found craft workshops, boat graves and evidence of trade with Scandinavia and the Frankish world.
