Wars of the Diadochi

323–281 BCE · 4th century BCE

The Wars of the Diadochi were the conflicts fought between Alexander the Great's generals, the Diadochi or successors, for control of his empire after his death, lasting from 323 to 281 BCE. They ended the unity of the Macedonian Empire. Out of them emerged the Hellenistic kingdoms, including the Ptolemaic Empire in Egypt and the Seleucid Empire in Asia.
