White Chapel
The White Chapel is a limestone shrine built by Senusret I at Karnak for his jubilee festival, to hold the barque of the god Amun. Dismantled in the New Kingdom, its blocks were used as fill in the Third Pylon of Amenhotep III. Recovered and reassembled by Henri Chevrier in the open-air museum at Karnak in the 1930s, it is one of the finest examples of Middle Kingdom relief.
