Hawara

Hawara is an archaeological site at the entrance to the Faiyum in Egypt, where Amenemhat III of the Twelfth Dynasty built his mud-brick pyramid in the 19th century BCE. Next to it stood his vast mortuary temple, which Greek writers such as Herodotus described as the Labyrinth, though little of it survives. The site later held a large cemetery of the Roman period, where Flinders Petrie found many of the Faiyum mummy portraits.
