Labyrinth

The Labyrinth, in Greek mythology, was the maze built by the craftsman Daedalus for King Minos of Crete to hold the Minotaur. The hero Theseus killed the monster there and found his way out with the thread given to him by Minos's daughter Ariadne. Ancient writers placed it at Knossos, and the complex Bronze Age palace excavated there by Arthur Evans has often been linked with the legend.
