Minos

Also known as King Minos

Minos is a legendary king of Crete in Greek mythology, son of Zeus and Europa, said to have ruled from Knossos. Greek writers remembered him as a lawgiver and as the first ruler to command the sea. The myths tell how he had Daedalus build the Labyrinth for the Minotaur and demanded a tribute of young Athenians, and after his death he became a judge of the dead. Arthur Evans named the Minoan civilisation after him.
