Yazid ibn Mazyad al-Shaybani
Yazid ibn Mazyad al-Shaybani was an Arab general and governor of the Abbasid Caliphate under Harun al-Rashid. He defeated the Kharijite rebel al-Walid ibn Tarif in 795 and served as governor of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which then included Shirvan. He died in 801, and his descendants, the Mazyadids or Yazidids, later became the hereditary Shirvanshahs.
