Ynglinga saga

c. 1230 · 13th century

Ynglinga saga is the first part of Heimskringla, the history of the kings of Norway written in Old Norse by the Icelander Snorri Sturluson around 1230. It traces the legendary Yngling dynasty from the god Odin through the kings of Uppsala to the petty kings of Vestfold, ancestors of Harald Fairhair. It draws on the older poem Ynglingatal and mixes myth with dim memories of real rulers.
