Lake Vänern

Also known as Vänern

Lake Vänern is the largest lake in Sweden and in the European Union, covering about 5,650 square kilometres in the west of the country. It drains through the Göta älv river to the Kattegat at Gothenburg. The lands around its shores, in Västergötland and Värmland, were part of the early homeland of the Geats.
