Yorkshire Wolds
The Yorkshire Wolds are low chalk hills in the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, England, curving from the Humber to the coast at Flamborough Head. Their well-drained soils have been farmed since prehistory, and they are rich in burial mounds, including the square barrows of the Iron Age Arras culture. In the early Middle Ages they formed part of the heartland of the Anglian kingdom of Deira.
