Zheng family
The Zheng family was a maritime trading and military clan of south-eastern China, led by Zheng Zhilong and his son Zheng Chenggong, known in the West as Koxinga. Remaining loyal to the Ming, they resisted the Qing conquest and in 1662 seized Taiwan from the Dutch. The Qing recovered Taiwan from the Zheng in 1683, completing their consolidation of China.
