Alexander of Greece

1893–1920 · 20th century

Alexander was king of Greece from 1917 to 1920. He was put on the throne in place of his father Constantine I, whom the Allies and Eleftherios Venizelos forced into exile for his neutral stance in the First World War, and he had little political power. He died in October 1920 of an infection after a bite from a pet monkey, which led to the return of Constantine I.
