Almodóvar del Río
Almodóvar del Río is a town on the Guadalquivir in the province of Córdoba, Spain, dominated by a castle of Muslim origin on a hill above the river; its name comes from the Arabic al-Mudawwar, 'the round one'. The castle changed hands in the wars of the taifa period, and in 1226 the Almohad pretender al-Bayyasi was killed nearby. The town passed to Castile in the 13th century.
