Écija
Écija is a town in the province of Seville in Andalusia, Spain, on the Genil river. As the Roman colony of Astigi it was an important centre of olive oil production, and it was a bishopric under the Visigoths. Under Muslim rule it was a town of al-Andalus disputed in the revolts against the emirs of Córdoba and between the taifas, and Ferdinand III of Castile took it in 1240.
