Amago Haruhisa

1514–1561 · 16th century · Also known as Amago Akihisa

Amago Haruhisa was a Japanese daimyō of the Sengoku period who led the Amago clan of Izumo from 1537, succeeding his grandfather Amago Tsunehisa. He failed in an attack on Mōri Motonari at Yoshida-Kōriyama in 1540–1541 but repelled an Ōuchi siege of Gassantoda in 1543, and at his height claimed authority over eleven provinces. His death in 1561 left the clan exposed to the Mōri, who conquered it in 1566.
