Amiriya Madrasa

1504 · 16th century · Also known as Amiriya Mosque

The Amiriya Madrasa is a religious school and mosque in Rada'a, Yemen, built by the Tahirid sultan Amir ibn Abd al-Wahhab and completed in 1504. Its white domes and richly painted interiors make it one of the finest Islamic monuments of southern Arabia. A long restoration project from the 1980s to 2005 rescued its decoration and won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
