Atarneus
Atarneus was an ancient Greek town on the coast of Mysia in north-western Asia Minor, opposite Lesbos. According to Herodotus the Persians gave its district to Chios in return for surrendering the Lydian rebel Pactyes. In the fourth century BCE it was ruled by Hermias, a friend of Plato's Academy, at whose court Aristotle lived for a time.
