Baganda

Also known as Ganda people

The Baganda, or Ganda, are a Bantu-speaking people of central Uganda, the country's largest ethnic group, whose kingdom of Buganda lay on the northern shore of Lake Victoria. In the late 19th century Ganda chiefs and soldiers allied with the British, fighting Bunyoro and serving as agents of colonial rule across the Uganda Protectorate. Their language, Luganda, is widely spoken in Uganda.
