Barbastro

Barbastro is a city in the province of Huesca, Aragon, on the Vero river. Under Muslim rule it was a frontier stronghold of the Upper March, and in 1064 it was captured by an army of Norman, French and Aragonese knights in a campaign often seen as a forerunner of the Crusades, though it was retaken the next year. Peter I of Aragon finally conquered it in 1100.
