Battle of Grunwald

1410 · 15th century · Also known as Battle of Tannenberg (1410), First Battle of Tannenberg, Battle of Žalgiris · Part of the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War

The Battle of Grunwald, fought on 15 July 1410 in Prussia, was one of the largest battles of medieval Europe. An allied army of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under Władysław II Jagiełło and Vytautas crushed the Teutonic Knights, killing Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen and much of the Order's leadership. The Order survived, but its military power never recovered.
