Battle of Mons-en-Pévèle

18 August 1304 · 14th century · Part of the Franco-Flemish War (1297–1305)

The Battle of Mons-en-Pévèle was fought on 18 August 1304 south of Lille between the army of Philip IV of France and the Flemish militias that had defeated the French at Kortrijk two years earlier. The hard-fought battle ended in a French victory, and the Treaty of Athis-sur-Orge of 1305 imposed heavy penalties on Flanders.
