Battle of Suriagehara
The Battle of Suriagehara was fought in 1589 near Mount Bandai in northern Japan between Date Masamune and Ashina Yoshihiro. Masamune's victory destroyed the power of the Ashina and gave him their castle and the Aizu region, making the Date the dominant clan of southern Tohoku. Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who had forbidden private wars, took Aizu from him in 1590.
