Battle of Svolder
The Battle of Svolder was a naval battle fought in September 1000 in the western Baltic. King Olaf Tryggvason of Norway was defeated and killed by an alliance of Sweyn Forkbeard of Denmark, Olof Skötkonung of Sweden and Eric Haakonsson, Earl of Lade. The victors divided Norway between them, and the battle became a celebrated subject of the Norse sagas.
