Battle of Wiłkomierz

1435 · 15th century · Also known as Battle of Pabaiskas · Part of the Lithuanian Civil War (1432–1438)

The Battle of Wiłkomierz, or Pabaiskas, was fought on 1 September 1435 near Ukmergė in Lithuania during the Lithuanian civil war between Sigismund Kęstutaitis and Švitrigaila. Sigismund's Lithuanian and Polish forces crushed Švitrigaila's army and its Livonian Order allies, killing the order's master. The defeat weakened the Livonian Order and led to the founding of the Livonian Confederation.
