Bingerville
Bingerville is a town on the Ébrié Lagoon east of Abidjan in Ivory Coast, named after the explorer and first governor Louis-Gustave Binger. It replaced yellow-fever-stricken Grand-Bassam as capital of the French colony in 1900 and remained the capital until it moved to Abidjan in 1934. Its former governor's palace and botanical garden recall its colonial role.
