Bryggen

Bryggen is the old wharf of Bergen in western Norway, lined with wooden merchant buildings. From around 1360 to 1754 it was the seat of the Hanseatic Kontor, the German merchants' office that controlled the export of dried fish from northern Norway in exchange for grain. Rebuilt after many fires in its traditional form, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
