Bwa people
The Bwa are a Gur-speaking people of west-central Burkina Faso and south-eastern Mali, in the region of the Black Volta. Living in largely independent farming villages without kings, they are known for leaf masks and painted wooden plank masks used in the cult of Do. French colonial writers often confused them with their Bobo neighbours.
