Cảnh Thịnh

1783–1802 · 18th century · Also known as Canh Thinh, Nguyễn Quang Toản

Cảnh Thịnh, born Nguyễn Quang Toản, was the second emperor of the Tây Sơn dynasty of Vietnam, succeeding his father Quang Trung as a boy in 1792. His court was weakened by factional purges and quarrels with his uncle's southern realm. Nguyễn Ánh took Phú Xuân in 1801 and Thăng Long in 1802, and Cảnh Thịnh was captured and executed.
