Caraceni
The Caraceni were the northernmost of the Samnite peoples of ancient Italy, living in the upper Sangro valley in modern Abruzzo and Molise, with their chief town probably at Aufidena. They formed one of the four peoples of the Samnite confederation alongside the Pentri, Caudini and Hirpini, and were absorbed by Rome after the Samnite Wars.
