Christophe Plantin
Christophe Plantin was a French-born printer and publisher who settled in Antwerp in 1549 and built one of the largest printing businesses in Europe. His press, the Golden Compasses, produced the eight-volume Polyglot Bible for Philip II between 1568 and 1573, besides scientific, humanist and liturgical works. His workshop, run by his Moretus heirs for three centuries, is now the Plantin-Moretus Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
