Ciudad Bolívar
Ciudad Bolívar is the capital of Bolívar state in south-eastern Venezuela, on the south bank of the Orinoco at its narrowest point. Founded in 1764 as Angostura, it became Simón Bolívar's base in the war of independence: the Congress of Angostura met there in 1819, and the Correo del Orinoco was printed there. It was renamed in his honour in 1846.
