Clan MacDougall
Clan MacDougall is a Scottish Highland clan descended from Dubhghall, eldest son of Somerled, King of the Isles. In the 13th century its chiefs were lords of Argyll and Lorn with castles such as Dunstaffnage, but they opposed Robert the Bruce, who defeated them at the Pass of Brander around 1308 and seized their lands. The clan later recovered part of Lorn, with its seat at Dunollie near Oban.
