Convention of Druim Cett

c. 575 · 6th century

The Convention of Druim Cett was an assembly held near Limavady in the north of Ireland, around 575 or perhaps later, at which the high king Áed mac Ainmuirech met Áedán mac Gabráin of Dál Riata in the presence of Columba. Recorded by Adomnán, it appears to have settled the obligations of the Irish part of Dál Riata; later tradition says it also protected the poets of Ireland.
