Dawachi

d. 1759 · 18th century

Dawachi was the last khan of the Dzungar Khanate, a grandson of the general Tsering Dondub. In 1753, with the help of the Khoid prince Amursana, he killed Lama Dorji and seized power, but the two soon fell out and Amursana went over to the Qing. When a Qing army entered Dzungaria in 1755 Dawachi fled south, was captured and was sent to Beijing, where he lived under the Qianlong Emperor's protection until his death.
