Tobolsk
Tobolsk is a city in western Siberia, Russia, at the confluence of the Tobol and Irtysh rivers. Founded by Cossacks in 1587, soon after Yermak's campaign against the Khanate of Sibir, it was the administrative capital of Siberia in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and a trading post for caravans from Central Asia. Its stone kremlin was built around 1700, and the family of Nicholas II was held there in 1917–1918.
