Dhul-Nunid dynasty

1030s–1085 · 11th century · Also known as Banu Dhi al-Nun, Dhunnunids

The Dhul-Nunid dynasty (Banu Dhi al-Nun) was a Berber family that ruled the Taifa of Toledo from the 1030s to 1085. From their lordships of Uclés and Huete they were invited to Toledo, where Ismail al-Zafir founded the dynasty. Under al-Mamun (1043–1075) Toledo became one of the strongest taifas and a centre of science, but his grandson al-Qadir surrendered the city to Alfonso VI of Castile in 1085.
