Dicalydones

4th century · 4th century

The Dicalydones were one of the two peoples into which the Picts were divided according to the Roman historian Ammianus Marcellinus, writing of the 360s, the other being the Verturiones. Their name appears to be linked to the earlier Caledonians, and they probably lived in northern Scotland. They took part in the attacks on Roman Britain of 367, known as the Great Conspiracy.
