Diktaean Zeus

Also known as Dictaean Zeus

Diktaean Zeus was a form of Zeus worshipped in eastern Crete, linked with the myth of the god's birth and upbringing in a Cretan cave. His main sanctuary lay near Palaikastro, where the Hymn of the Kouretes was found. Control of the sanctuary and its lands was long disputed between Itanos, Praisos and Hierapytna.
