Dioscurias

Dioscurias was an ancient Greek colony on the eastern shore of the Black Sea, founded by settlers from Miletus in the 6th century BCE on the site of modern Sukhumi in Abkhazia. It traded with the peoples of the Caucasus, and ancient writers claimed that dozens of languages were spoken in its market. In Roman times it became the fort of Sebastopolis.
