Dzungar genocide

1755–1757 · 18th century

The Dzungar genocide was the mass killing of the Dzungar Oirat Mongols by Qing forces in 1755–1757 under the Qianlong Emperor. Together with epidemics and flight, it destroyed most of the Dzungar population and ended the Dzungar Khanate, allowing the Qing Empire to incorporate the region into what became Xinjiang.
