Edward II of England

1284–1327 · 14th century · Also known as Edward of Caernarfon

Edward II was king of England from 1307 to 1327, the son of Edward I. His reliance on favourites such as Piers Gaveston and the Despensers alienated the barons, and his army was routed by Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314. He was deposed in 1327 by his wife, Isabella of France, and Roger Mortimer, and was probably murdered at Berkeley Castle.
