Ennis

Ennis is the county town of County Clare in the west of Ireland, on the River Fergus. It grew around a Franciscan friary founded by the O'Brien kings of Thomond in the 13th century, near their seat at Clonroad. Daniel O'Connell's election for Clare at Ennis in 1828 forced the passage of Catholic Emancipation.
