Euphemius
Euphemius was a Byzantine naval commander in Sicily who rebelled against the emperor Michael II in 826 and proclaimed himself emperor. Defeated by loyal forces, he invited the Aghlabids of Ifriqiya to intervene, and their invasion in 827 began the Muslim conquest of Sicily. He was killed by Byzantine defenders around 828.
